Clover Aviation Capital Company Limited is a world-class aircraft lessor and asset manager with industry-leading financial metrics. With our extensive knowledge of the aviation industry and through our established relationships with airlines, OEMs, investors, banks and other key aviation industry participants, our team of experienced professionals has enabled us to consistently deliver market-leading operational and financial results since our inception in 2015.

Our core business model focuses on the leasing of latest technology aircraft, strategic trading and providing technical & asset management and remarketing services to airlines and aircraft investors worldwide. With long term committed investment and support from our stakeholders, Mizuho Bank, Mizuho Leasing and Ping An Leasing, we strive for the expansion of our strong portfolio of owned and managed aircraft assets. Our headquarters is located in Hong Kong, with our Irish subsidiary based in Dublin and our Japanese branch based in Tokyo.

Our History

July 2015 Ping An International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. established Aviation Business Unit.
September 2015 Ping An Aircraft Leasing Company Limited (“PAAL”) was set up in Ireland.
April 2016 Ping An Aviation Capital Company Limited (“PAAC”) was set up in Hong Kong.
December 2017 The share capital of PAAC was increased to US$200 million.
September 2019 Clover Aviation Capital Company Limited (“Clover Aviation Capital”) was founded in Hong Kong.
November 2019 The entire shareholding of PAAL was transferred from PAAC to Clover Aviation Capital.
December 2019 The name of PAAL was changed to Clover Aircraft Leasing Company Limited (“CAL”).
January 2020 The headquarters of Clover Aviation Capital was relocated from Shanghai to Hong Kong.
January 2021 Clover Aviation Capital established a Tokyo branch and the Japan office was opened in September 2021.
September 2021 Moody’s Baa3 (stable) international issuer’s rating was obtained and maintained in 2022.
November 2022 The share capital of CAL was increased by US$50 million.

Stakeholders

Mizuho Bank, Ltd. (Mizuho Bank) was established in July 2013 with its headquarters in Tokyo, providing financial services as the integrated retail and corporate banking unit of Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. It has one of the largest customer bases in Japan, and a global network of financial and business centres.

Ping An International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (Ping An Leasing) was established in January 2013 with its headquarters in Shanghai, as a wholly-owned subsidiary and a key member of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd., specializing in leasing products.

Mizuho Leasing Company, Ltd. (Mizuho Leasing) was established in December 1969 with its headquarters in Tokyo, as a general leasing company under the initiative of The Industrial Bank of Japan, Ltd. (now Mizuho Bank, Ltd.), and with investments from major Japanese companies.

Yoshihisa Fujita
Non-Executive Chairman
  • Appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of Clover Aviation Capital with effect from 30 June 2022.

  • Head of Specialty Finance (SFT) of Strategic Investment Department and established SFT in Mizuho Bank from scratch in 2018. 

  • Prior to his present responsibility, he was Head of Transportation and Logistics Sector, Global Investment Banking Group of Mizuho Securities in Tokyo from 2012 to 2015.

  • Head of Lease Finance/Securitization, Financial Products Division of Mizuho Bank (USA) in New York from 2015 to 2018.

  • More than 15 years’ experienced banker, especially in the investment banking field, having successfully completed many M&A, ECM, DCM and Structured Finance deals globally.

  • Holds a BBA from Meiji University and finished an accredited EEP from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.


Joe Ye Tian
President and Chief Executive Officer
  • Prior to the launch of Clover Aviation Capital, he has worked for Ping An Leasing since July 2015, establishing its aviation business sector, and was responsible for the global aviation business development and operation.

  • Prior to joining Ping An Leasing, he worked for ORIX Corporation for 10 years based in Tokyo, largely focused on the Chinese and Northeast Asian aircraft leasing and financing market.

  • Extensive experience in aircraft financing and leasing, marketing, trading, and remarketing; also familiar with tax lease structures including JOLCO and JOL.

  • Named as one of the ‘40 under 40’ Airline Economics Awardees 2016 and appointed as the ISTAT Board of Directors in March 2018.

  • Holds an M.B.A. Degree from Tsukuba University in Japan and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Suzhou University in China.

Gareth Delany
Executive Director and Chief Technical Officer
  • Joined Ping An Aircraft Leasing in October 2015, heading the operation of the Dublin platform and responsible for all aspects of technical and asset management.

  • Prior to joining Ping An Aircraft Leasing, he spent 10 years at ORIX Aviation, where he held the position of Senior Director, Head of Technical and Asset Management.

  • Also worked for Lufthansa Technik as a powerplant and test cell specialist with an emphasis on the operation and maintenance of various engine types.

  • Holds a First Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin and has over 23 years of experience in the aviation industry.

Haiyan Zheng
Chief Commercial Officer
  • Worked for Ping An Leasing since July 2015, responsible for its aircraft acquisition and trading worldwide.

  • Prior to joining Ping An Leasing, she held the position of Senior Manager of Aircraft Acquisition Department at the HNA group, where she worked for 14 years. She has worked for the HNA group as an Aircraft Type Certificate Instructor of Aircraft Maintenance Department and followed the Senior Manager of the Aircraft Acquisition Department, with particular emphasis on the Aircraft Acquisition and Leasing of various aircraft types.

  • Holds a Master’s Degree in Aircraft Design Engineering from Northwest Polytechnic University in Xi’an and has over 16 years of experience in the aviation industry.

Harvey Lau
General Counsel, Head of Legal
  • Formerly a Principal at Baker McKenzie with over 27 years of legal practice, he has over two decades of experience in advising on aircraft leasing, trading and financing.

  • Named one of the Leading Lawyers in China, Hong Kong and Asia Pacific by world leading associations and publications, and was included in Euromoney Legal Group’s Guide to World’s Leading Aviation Lawyers for many years.

  • Received his Bachelor’s Degree in Laws from Hong Kong University and Master’s Degree in Laws from New York University, and is admitted to practice laws in New York State, Hong Kong, and England and Wales.

Yusuke Honma
Executive Vice President, Head of Japan
  • Before joining Clover Aviation Capital, he spent more than 10 years with the aircraft leasing team in ORIX Corporation, where he was actively engaged in JOL, JOLCO and other transactions and has a wide-ranging airline and investor contacts network based in Japan.

  • Worked for ORIX Aviation Hong Kong in his capacity as company director and one of the founding members where he oversaw the deal evaluation and portfolio management.

  • Once appointed as the director of Tune Hotels.com Ltd., a Malaysian budget hotel chain established by AirAsia Group, in which ORIX Corporation had a minor shareholding.

  • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Waseda University.

Mattéo Jiang
Chief Marketing Officer
  • Over 10 years of experience in the aviation industry.

  • Served in various key positions and participated in numerous aircraft transactions for sizable companies including HNA Group, Ping An Leasing and Haitong Unitrust Leasing.

  • Named as one of the ‘40 under 40’ Airline Economics Awardees 2023.

  • Holds a Master’s Degree in Law and Management of Air Transportation from Université d’Aix-Marseille III.  

Mabel Peng
Senior Vice President, Head of Financing
  • Familiar with corporate finance, loan products, asset-backed finance, establishing relationships with financial institutions, project implementation, capital management and financial analysis.

  • Prior to joining Clover Aviation Capital, she held the position of Manager in a Chinese state-owned company.

  • Before that, she was a Relationship Manager in China CITIC Bank and Bank of Communication in Hong Kong for 7 years.

  • Holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Sydney.

Ian Ye
Director, Head of Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Worked for Ping An Leasing since March 2014, largely focusing on financial planning and analysis of aircraft operating leasing and equipment financial leasing, and in charge of share transfer and capital management.

  • Extensive experience in accounting, tax and insurance issues of aircraft leasing in the global market.

  • Familiar with tax lease structures including JOLCO, JOL and French Lease.

  • Appointed as Member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants in March 2015, Member of the Institute of Public Accountants in March 2022, and International Affiliate of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants in July 2022.

  • Holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Elsa Yuen
Director, Head of Human Resources
  • Prior to joining Clover Aviation Capital, she has a proven track record as the regional head of Human Resources for a number of renowned global financial and banking institutions.

  • Over 20 years of experience in Human Resources and Corporate Services across the Asia-Pacific region. She has the expertise in the provision of a wide range of Strategic HR solutions and advice to shareholders, senior leadership and key stakeholders, supporting their business development and mitigating human capital risks.

  • During her career, she has led various teams across different functions and jurisdictions: start-up, M&A, liquidation, talent acquisition, change & transformation, HRIS implementation, compensation & benefits, learning & development, mediation, succession planning and staff relations etc.

  • Graduated from University of Toronto with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Philosophy.
