Clover Aviation Capital Company Limited is an international aircraft operating lessor with industry-leading financial metrics, offering world-class aircraft leasing and asset management services. With our extensive knowledge of the aviation industry and through our established relationships with airlines, OEMs, investors, banks and other key aviation industry participants, our team of experienced professionals has enabled us to consistently deliver market-leading operational and financial results since our inception in 2015.

Our core business model focuses on the leasing of new technology aircraft, strategic trading and providing asset management and remarketing services to our global client base. With long term committed investment and support from our stakeholders, Mizuho Bank, Mizuho Leasing and Ping An Leasing, we strive for the expansion of our strong portfolio of owned and managed aircraft assets. Our headquarters are located in Hong Kong, with our Irish subsidiary based in Dublin and our Japanese branch based in Tokyo.

Our History

July 2015 Ping An International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. started aviation business.
September 2015 Ping An Aircraft Leasing Company Limited (“PAAL”) was set up in Ireland.
April 2016 Ping An Aviation Capital Company Limited (“PAAC”) was set up in Hong Kong.
December 2017 Share capital of PAAC was increased to US$200 million.
September 2019 Clover Aviation Capital Company Limited (“Clover”) was founded in Hong Kong.
November 2019 The shareholding of PAAL was transferred from PAAC to Clover.
January 2021 Clover established a Tokyo branch through its wholly-owned subsidiary.

As of 31 March 2020, it holds assets of approximately JPY214.66 trillion (equivalent to USD1.98 trillion) through its control of Mizuho Bank, Ltd., Mizuho Trust & Banking Co., Ltd. and Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. It ranked 242nd on the Forbes Global 2000 list.

PING AN LEASING

Ping An International Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. (Ping An Leasing), was established in January 2013 with its headquarters in Shanghai as a wholly-owned subsidiary and key member of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd., specializing in leasing products. Its business has developed rapidly, and as of 30 June 2020, its assets reached RMB253.37 billion (equivalent to USD35.78 billion) with registered capital of RMB13.89 billion (equivalent to USD1.96 billion). Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, Ltd. is one of the largest financial services companies in the world, with over 210 million retail and 560 million internet customers as of June 30, 2020, ranked 7th on the Forbes Global 2000 list and 21st on the Fortune Global 500 list.

MIZUHO LEASING

Mizuho Leasing Co., Ltd. (Mizuho Leasing) was established in December 1969 with its headquarters in Tokyo as a general leasing company under the initiative of the Industrial Bank of Japan, Limited (now Mizuho Bank, Ltd.) and with investments from major Japanese companies. Its business has grown rapidly, focusing on finance leasing, operating leasing, automobile leasing, real estate leasing, and other services such as payment outsourcing and installment sales. With 1,745 employees, its total assets reached JPY2.35 trillion (equivalent to USD22.41 billion) with paid-in capital of JPY26.09 billion (equivalent to USD241.57 million) as of 31 March 2020.

Joe Ye TIAN
President and Chief Executive Officer
  • Prior to the launch of Clover, Joe has worked for Ping An Leasing since July 2015, establishing its aviation business sector, and was responsible for the global aviation business development and operation.

  • Prior to joining Ping An, he worked for ORIX Corporation for 10 years based in Tokyo, largely focused on the Chinese and Northeast Asian aircraft leasing and financing market.

  • He has extensive experience in aircraft financing and leasing, marketing, trading, and remarketing; he is also familiar with tax lease structures including JOLCO, JOL, French and KG Lease, etc.

  • He was nominated by industry peers in the ’40 under 40’ Airline Economics Awards 2016, also was appointed to the ISTAT Board of Directors in March 2018.

  • He holds an MBA degree from Tsukuba University in Japan and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Suzhou University in China.

Gareth DELANY
Executive Director and Chief Technical Officer
  • Gareth joined Ping An Aircraft Leasing in October 2015, heading the operation of the Dublin platform and responsible for all aspects of technical and asset management.

  • Prior to joining Ping An, he spent 10 years at ORIX Aviation, where he held the position of Senior Director, Head of Technical and Asset Management.

  • He also worked for Lufthansa Technik as a powerplant and test cell specialist with an emphasis on the operation and maintenance of various engine types.

  • He holds a first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin and has 22 years of experience in the aviation industry.

Haiyan ZHENG
Executive Vice President, Head of Acquisition and Trading
  • Haiyan worked for Ping An Leasing since July 2015, responsible for its aircraft acquisition and trading worldwide.

  • Prior to joining Ping An, she held the position of Senior Manager of Aircraft Acquisition Department at the HNA group, where she worked for 14 years. She has worked for the HNA group as an Aircraft Type Certificate Instructor of Aircraft Maintenance Department and followed the Senior Manager of the Aircraft Acquisition Department, with particular emphasis on the Aircraft Acquisition and Leasing of various aircraft types.

  • She holds a master’s degree in Aircraft Design Engineering from Northwest Polytechnic University in Xi’an and has 16 years of experience in the aviation industry.

Natsue OGIHARA
Senior Director, Head of Risk Management
  • Natsue joined Clover in April 2020, and is responsible for Clover’s credit and risk management.

  • She has more than 20 years’ experience in the aircraft leasing business, including marketing, financing and risk management.

  • Prior to joining Clover, she served several management roles in ORIX Corporation including General Manager and Senior Vice President - Capital Markets of Treasury Department, and Senior Vice President of Risk Management Department in ORIX’s headquarter in Tokyo.

Yusuke HONMA
Senior Vice President, Head of Japan
  • Before joining Clover, he spent more than 10 years with the aircraft leasing team in ORIX Corporation, where he was actively engaged in JOL, JOLCO and other transactions and has a wide-ranging airline and investor contacts network based in Japan.

  • More recently, he has also worked for ORIX Aviation Hong Kong in his capacity as a company director where he oversaw the deal evaluation and portfolio management.

  • In the past, Yusuke was appointed as the director of Tune Hotels.com Ltd., a Malaysian budget hotel chain established by AirAsia Group, in which ORIX Corporation had a minor shareholding.

  • Yusuke holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Waseda University.

Mabel PENG
Senior Vice President, Deputy Head of Financing
  • Familiar with corporate finance, loan products, asset-backed finance, establishing relationships with financial institutions, project implementation, capital management and financial analysis.

  • Prior to joining Clover, Mabel held the position of Manager in a Chinese state-owned company.

  • Before that, she was a Relationship Manager in China CITIC Bank and Bank of Communication in Hong Kong for 7 years.

  • She holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Hong Kong, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Sydney.

Ian YE
Director, Head of Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Ian worked for Ping An Leasing since March 2014, largely focusing on financial planning and analysis of aircraft operating leasing and equipment financial leasing, and in charge of share transfer and capital management.

  • Extensive experience in accounting, tax and insurance issues of aircraft leasing in the global market.

  • Familiar with tax lease structures including JOLCO, JOL and French Lease.

  • Appointed as Member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants in March 2015.

  • He holds a master’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Joanne O’CONNOR
Director, Asset Management
  • Joanne joined Ping An Aircraft Leasing in August 2017, with responsibility for the asset management of its aircraft portfolio.

  • 20 years of experience in the aviation industry.

  • Previously worked with Avolon for 3 years, where she held the position of Contracts Manager.

  • Worked 13 years at Airbus Financial Services, where she held the position of Deputy Head of Contracts.

  • She holds a bachelor’s degree (honours) in Business Studies from Dublin City University and a diploma in aviation leasing and finance from the Law Society of Ireland.

Julie ZHU
Director, Head of General Affairs
  • Before joining Clover, Julie worked at a fin-tech company in Hong Kong as Chief of Staff.

  • Prior to that, she was the Deputy General Manager of IT at Hong Kong Express Airways.

  • Over 16 years’ experience in multinational companies across fin-tech, aviation and telecommunication industries, especially excelling in building up business platforms from scratch, driving Digital Transformation and Process Improvement cross-functional and cross-regional teams in the multi-culture setting.

  •  She holds a master’s degree in Communication and Information Systems from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China.
